The Honeywell Home Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector (RCHW3610WF/CHW3610W1001) is a comprehensive water damage prevention device that monitors for leaks, freezing temperatures, and humidity changes. It connects directly to your WiFi network—no additional hub required.
The detector includes a 5-foot (1.5m) cable sensor that detects water along its entire length. For extended coverage, up to 125 additional cable sensors can be connected, extending detection up to 500 feet (150m). This makes it ideal for protecting large areas like basements, crawl spaces, and utility rooms.
When water is detected, the device triggers an industry-leading 100dB audible alarm and sends instant push notifications via the Honeywell Home app. LED status lights provide visual confirmation of the alert state. Temperature and humidity monitoring sends additional alerts when conditions fall outside your preset ranges—critical for preventing frozen pipes.
The detector is powered by 3 AA batteries (included) with up to 3-year battery life under normal conditions. Battery life may be shorter with extreme temperatures, multiple cable sensors, or frequent alert activity. This is a battery-only device—there is no external power option.
The Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit for voice control and smart home integration. The Honeywell Home/Resideo app provides remote monitoring and alert management.
Home Assistant integration is limited—the official Lyric integration supports thermostats but not water leak sensors. A community-developed custom integration exists for those wanting Home Assistant compatibility.
The detector is reusable after detecting water—simply wipe dry the detector and cable sensor. Ideal placement locations include near water heaters, sump pumps, washing machines, under sinks, and in basements. Note: Some users report WiFi connectivity issues requiring multiple setup attempts.
